Tiger Stadium, Louisiana State University
Situation:
Tiger Stadium or Death Valley is the home football field for Louisiana State University. With a seating capacity of 92,400, it is the seventh largest on-campus college football stadium in the nation. A portion of lucky fans get to watch games from the newly constructed Stadium Club Suites. Unfortunately, fans were complaining of excessive heat and glare pouring through the Stadium Clubs curtain wall windows. Even exterior ceramic shading bars were not enough to stop the sun from making the luxury suites uncomfortable.
Solution:
Geoshield helped to make Tiger Stadium greener and more comfortable for fans with the installation of its Geo 30 architectural window film. Installed over the west windows of the suites, the film greatly reduced solar heat gain, allowing the university to reduce cooling cost and improve comfort for those in attendance. The films also provided glare control, reducing the amount of glare on flat-screen televisions. With 99% UV rejection the film helped to protect the suites' purple and gold furnishings against fading. Additionally, the Geo 30 product provided all of these results without making the windows appear shiny or dark.
The Geoshield installation was performed by GT Tint of Covington, Eubanks Detail of Lake Charles, and Solar Solutions of New Orleans.
